The human cost of cuts.
Australia makes a promise to the people who serve.
But what happens when getting the support you need becomes another battle?
When a claim takes months or years. When evidence is rejected. When an injury or illness isn't recognised. When treatment is delayed. When compensation doesn't reflect the impact of service. When veterans and their families are left navigating complex systems while already carrying the consequences of military service.
On paper, these are claims, assessments, eligibility decisions, reviews and budgets.
In real life, someone carries the cost.
Paper Cuts Australia is documenting what happens to veterans and their families when the systems designed to support them don't.
One story can be dismissed as an isolated case. Hundreds of stories can reveal a pattern.

If you are a veteran, current or former ADF member, partner, family member or carer and have been affected by delays, denials, cuts, inadequate support or other failures within Australia's veterans' support systems, we want to hear what happened.
You don't need to understand DVA terminology or know which policy or legislation applies. Tell us what happened and what it meant for you or your family.
Your story will not automatically be published. Every submission is reviewed and identifying information is removed or generalised before anything is made public.
You decide how Paper Cuts Australia can use your story.
Every cut leaves a mark. Help us make it visible.
